Dr Syeda Ali has worked in medium and low secure care as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist in the North West for the past 18 years, working solely with women inpatients for the past 13 years. She was formerly the medical director of one of the largest secure women's hospitals in Britain and now provides psychiatric intensive care within the Priory Hospitals group for women in crisis.

Her specialisms include the management of extreme self-harm and promotion of the specific physical healthcare of women across the life-cycle. She believes that Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder does not exist, and in her spare time she likes to help crowdfund new feminist literature.
