Event Information
Overview
We are excited and delighted to like to invite you to our next Transcultural conference on Wednesday 11 September 2024. We invite you to bring something that you feel represents your culture and we can share with each other on the day! Hopefully we will capture these and share on our website page too.
With an array of extraordinary speakers including experts by experience that range on topics across mental health care and culture in UK and beyond; this day will help improve our insights on transcultural psychiatry and also look at the novel ways we have been learning on this topic to help improve our therapeutic relationships with people across cultures, and consider this in all of psychiatry.
We also have an award winning film we will share with delegates prior to the conference, and will have some in depth discussions on the future of training that can be even more inclusive in cultural aspects (see section below for more details of the film).
We then plan on having an even bigger conference next year, along with some of our other special interest groups (SIGs).
The conference is likely to be a sell out very quickly , so we recommend you book your places at the earliest opportunity.

Synopsis of 'Bridge'
A heart-warming and life-affirming story of two strangers; two lost souls, and the Bridge that connected them!
At the break of dawn, two strangers, Tanima (30) and Santanu (75), both with the intention of taking their lives by suicide, meet on a Bridge over the Ganges. Noticing Tanima about to jump off the bridge, Santanu suddenly changes his decision and runs to stop her. He brings her home.
Tanima continues to be in great distress and suicidal; refusing interactions, food and resisting every help offered. Santanu doesn't give up. As he tries to figure out what to do, he gets to discover Tanima's painful past. Not only does Santanu show great compassion and determination, the sequence of events allow him to connect with his own unresolved grief.
Both of them must find out and regain a sense of meaning and belonging to life! As they search for hope and optimism, a Bridge of trust and bonding brings powerful healing and wholeness to both of their lives.
