Katherine Clarke

Head of Research

Katherine joined the NCCMH in 2024 from UCL, where she coordinated ODDESSI (Open Dialogue: Development and Evaluation of a Social Network Intervention for Severe Mental Illness), a large-scale programme of research into crisis and continuing mental health care within the NHS. ODDESSI has a focus on Open Dialogue, which incorporates people’s social networks into their care. Katherine has worked in research into the effectiveness of healthcare innovations for the last 15 years, with a particular focus on wellbeing and the long-term preservation of mental health. Projects include a large cluster-randomised trial of centralised and specialist early intervention for psychosis, an evaluation of the national expansion of IAPT services to reach more people with long-term physical health problems, and an individually randomised feasibility trial of a novel wellbeing intervention.
