Our manifesto for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election
Find out more about our manifesto for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
This manifesto has been many months in development and gathers together discussions and debates of many colleagues from among the 1,500 members of the College in Scotland.
Focusing on the three A’s - Awareness, Action and Accountability, our manifesto is calling on all political parties to tackle Scotland’s mental health emergency.
Key asks in the manifesto include:
- Delivery of a fully funded national strategy to cut the mortality gap in half by 2050 for people with severe mental illness and learning disabilities.
- A legal mechanism to deliver the promise of at least 10% of the NHS budget to adult mental health and 1% to CAMHS to improve access and better services for our patients.
- A national, funded plan for those with neurodivergent conditions such as autism and ADHD so people can access the right help without having to be on a long waiting list.
- A focus on public mental health to empower people and limit inequalities.
This manifesto will form the basis of the next stage of our extensive influencing plan ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliament election. We will continue to work with all political parties to elevate the priorities of RCPsychiS members to the forefront of electoral discourse and to ensure that these issues are central to the electoral agenda.
