In accordance with the College's Supplemental Charter, Bye-Laws and Regulations, all elected posts in the College are open to Specialist Associates.

We are seeking a Deputy Regional Advisor to cover the Severn Deanery area and Dorset. The Deputy Regional Advisor will have a complementary role to that of the Regional Advisor and will act on their behalf in their absence.

All consultants or specialty doctors, who are members, fellows, specialist associates or affiliates in good standing with the College for CPD (or can provide evidence of equivalent CPD activity) and who hold a current license to practice from the General Medical Council, are eligible to apply.

Our local Retired Doctors group is very active and we are seeking an additional Retired Doctors Representative to represent and support retired doctors in the South West Division.  

As part of this role, you would provide an important communication link between the South West Division Executive Committee and members; and facilitate local networks, divisional activities and events that are designed to represent and support retired doctors in the region.

The College is recruiting Equity Champions to work with divisions, faculties and devolved nations to help deliver the College’s Fairness for all strategy aimed at improving equity for all.?

In this role you will:

  • act as a College Ambassador, supporting this important work aimed at making Equality, Diversity and Inclusion everyone’s business
  • support the Presidential Leads for Equity and Equality and Presidential Leads for Women and Mental Health to drive equity-based initiatives through your devolved nation, division or faculty
  • lead on RCPsych initiatives and be supported to promote these through your own organisations and networks

A requirement outlined in the current Gold Guide (version 8, 2020) states that a minimum of 10% externality is required at Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) panels across the UK. In order to meet this requirement, we hold a list of trained External Advisors who attend panels at the request of Deaneries/LETBs. In addition to the minimum requirements outlined above, we also receive requests for externality for quality visits and interviews.

CESR Evaluators are members of the College Equivalence Committee.  The Equivalence Committee’s main purpose is to assess applications received under the CESR route and send recommendations to the General Medical Council regarding individual applications for Specialist Registration in Psychiatry.
