New framework for managing weight gain in mental health patients
The Public Mental Health Information Centre (PMHIC) has published a framework to manage the challenges posed by weight gain among people with mental health conditions in Wales.
The framework is one of five reports commissioned by the Welsh Government from RCPsych in Wales and the PMHIC, as the nation seeks to get the best evidence for action across a range of physical health outcomes affecting mental health patients.
The Smoking Cessation report was published in 2024, and this timely report – the second of five – focuses on preventing and reversing weight gain in people with poor mental health.
Many of its recommendations are relevant to community services (not just mental health services) across the UK and beyond.
