RCPsych-run audit wins Patient and Public Involvement Award
The College is delighted that the National Clinical Audit of Psychosis (NCAP) team has won the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) Clinical Audit Hero Award in the Patient & Public Involvement category for their outstanding work on the State of the Nation Report 2024.
This award recognises the incredible work between the NCAP team and the Service User and Carer Reference Group (SUCRG), who played a central role in shaping the report.
The SUCRG worked closely with the core team – reviewing data, interpreting findings, and working on recommendations that reflect the voices of those with lived experience.
The report benchmarks the quality of care delivered to people experiencing a first episode of psychosis across England and Wales, aiming to drive improvements in mental health services.
A special thank you to Vanessa Pinfold and Dr Veenu Gupta, who co-facilitated the SUCRG and led the award nomination.
Dr Gupta commented:
“Our nomination talked about the challenges of doing public involvement within an audit, and how we worked together with clinical advisors to co-deliver a report with service users and carer decision making prominent throughout.
“A huge shout out to the artist and designer who shaped our vision into a report. This was teamwork at its best.”
Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you to HQIP for commissioning this important work.
