Remembering Sir David Goldberg
Members are invited to a commemorative event to celebrate the life and work of Professor Sir David Goldberg, who died last year.
College President Dr Lade Smith CBE and former RCPsych President Emeritus Professor Dinesh Bhugra are among a host of eminent friends and colleagues who will be speaking about Sir David’s impact on them, their work and the field of psychiatry in general.
He was a groundbreaking figure in modern psychiatry whose work helped transform mental health services globally.
Sir David was influential in advancing the field of psychiatric epidemiology, improving mental health services in low- and middle-income countries and primary care settings, and training psychiatrists worldwide.
He was the Chair of the (a charity dedicated to research and education in mental health) for over a decade, supporting many early career researchers within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The IoPPN, together with the Psychiatry Research Trust, are hosting the commemorative event at the Wolfson Lecture Theatre on Denmark Hill campus (16 De Crespigny Park, London SE5 8AB) from 3pm to 5.30pm, followed by an evening drinks reception.
