Dr Rowena Carter

Violence and Aggression Sub Working Group Representative

Dr Carter is a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist and Lead for Critical Care Psychiatry at King’s College Hospital. She completed her dual psychiatric training at South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust In general and older adults with an accreditation in liaison psychiatry.

Her clinical work focuses on the interface between neuropsychiatry and critical care, with particular interest in delirium, complex delirium with psychosis, trauma-related presentations, capacity assessments, and affective and adjustment disorders. She is passionate about improving the psychiatric care of critically ill patients and enhancing multidisciplinary collaboration in intensive care settings.

Dr Carter’s research interests span the impact of workplace violence and aggression on workforce wellbeing and retention, as well as the development and implementation of novel and translational psychiatric interventions in critical care. She is committed to improving patient experience through research that bridges clinical and academic practice.
