Event Information
Overview
Please join us for the PIPSIG annual winter conference! This year sees the return of our ever popular ‘starting out in private and independent practice’ with a particular focus on clinical and medicolegal practice.
There is no let-up in the numbers of psychiatrists who are looking beyond ‘the norm’ and wishing to pursue a different route outside the NHS. Whether it be a part time option, a few hours a week to sustain consultants enough to continue in their usual NHS role (without burning out or relocating to Australia) or a complete change of direction into independent practice, it can be a daunting experience to take those first few steps.
This conference will help those considering a move into independent practice with practical advice, across a range of working options, given by a variety of consultant peers who have all been through it. We shall also have the opportunity to hear from external speakers, expert in their knowledge of some of the supportive structures that can help independent practitioners.
Whether it be uncertainty about the CQC, tax, appraisal, revalidation, being self employed, charging patients, working for a private organisation, or doing medicolegal work, we shall have something for you to help reduce your anxiety, and encourage your creativity and optimism about a fulfilling independent career.
This conference will be suitable for existing consultants and higher trainees curious about life and opportunities outside the NHS. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. The conference is in person and will not be recorded.
