Dr SANTOSH MUDHOLKAR MBBS MD MSc FRSM FRCPsych DIC   

ELECTION SUMMARY FOR RCPsych TREASURER POST  

I am a full time NHS Consultant Psychiatrist with West London NHS Trust where I am medical lead for community forensic services and co-lead for International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

The College is a leading global mental health organisation. My leadership experience comes from my International work experience, volunteering, RCPsych roles, NHS & non-NHS medical leadership, experience as a trustee for mental health charity, hands on experience in financial governance and managing budget. I am confident that I can work collaboratively with other College officers, trustees and council to deliver the College’s strategic objectives. I will be champion the voice of members in financial decisions and ensure college finances remain healthy and sustainable.

I was psychiatric trainee representative for London region on Psychiatric Trainee Committee (PTC) during 2005-2007 and a trainee editor, British Journal of Psychiatry (2005-2010). I was Associate Registrar, Membership Engagement (July 2016-June 2021) when I worked   with CEO, College Officers, College staff and other stakeholders as an inclusive leader to enhance membership experience.

I was a member of the Diaspora Committee during 2018-2020 and CPD lead and Equality champion for Trent division between 2021-2022. I am currently member of Transcultural Psychiatry Special Interest Group (TSIG) Executive Committee.  

I have

  1. proposed, championed, co-led College’s first ever full membership survey.
  2. worked collaboratively with CEO, College Officers to develop of College Membership strategy.
  3. worked collaboratively with College CEO, President, Registrar and communication team to launch first ever College Members’ magazine, RCPsych Insight and remained clinical co-editor during 2017-2021.
  4. worked collaboratively with College communications team, responding to members’ feedback and updating College website.
  5. as member of mental health wellbeing & workforce committee (2017-2021) I contributed to position statement on “Sustaining the mental health of doctors in the U.K”.
  6. initiated a dialogue with SAS doctors, engaged with diaspora organisations, retired members, those in private practice to improve engagement.
  7. co-led launch of South Asian History Month in July 2020, contributed to Race Equality round table (2020), equity action plan (2021).

 

  If elected as the RCPsych Treasurer, I will

  1. ensure College membership provides value for money.
  2. develop a robust financial strategy for financial surplus to aim at  limiting  yearly increase in membership subscription.
  3. plan innovative strategies for income generation from College’s London headquarters for benefit of all members.
  4. promote equity in College financial decisions, enable members’ views inform key financial decisions.
  5. ensure that College is committed to invest and promote sustainability.
  6. support investment in digitalisation of CPD, education, training and use of AI.
  7. upgrade IT infrastructure to protect membership database, to reduce cyber security threat.
  8. advocate financial investment to support wellbeing of members by modernising psychiatric support service (PSS).
  9. promote fund raising events by collaborating with department of Development and Partnerships.
  10. ensure that College publications are informative and financially profitable.
